Police investigate holdup near Oregon Hill
VCU Police Department alerted students to an armed robbery that took place on campus early late last night. The incident took place just before 11:55 p.m. in an empty lot near the 100 block of South Laurel Street.

VCU Police Department alerted students to an armed robbery that took place on campus early this morning. The incident took place just before 11:55 p.m. in an empty lot near the 100 block of South Laurel Street.
The suspect approached the victim from behind and demanded the victim’s iPhone, police reported. Police have confirmed whether the victim was affiliated with VCU.
The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 5-feet-6 inches tall wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and baggy jeans. He used a silver handgun, according to the alert.
VCU PD first alerted students about the robbery via text message shortly after 12:05 a.m. A second and third alert said police were on the scene, and the scene was cleared by 12:56 a.m.
The VCU PD and Richmond Police are investigating the incident.
