The 10 selected designers pulled their inspirations from neighborhood museums, local artwork and sustainable materials. The outcome is an eclectic mix of home-grown and eco-friendly garments.
In keeping with the street wear movement of the industry, the VCU fashion design and merchandising department decided to capitalize on this rapidly progressing trend. Luckily, junior and senior design students need not travel to New York or Paris; they can simply look to the emerging fashionistas tramping down the cobblestone sidewalks outside their doors.
“MUSE” will be held in the VCU University Student Commons, Commonwealth Ballrooms A and B, located at 907 Floyd Ave., Friday May 1. Tickets are $20 for students with a VCU I.D., $5 for VCU fashion students with I.D., $25 for general admission and $35 for preferred seating. They can be purchased at the fashion office, Room 432 Pollak Building located at 325 N. Harrison St. or by calling 828-1699.
