Richmond record junkies will flock to Deep Groove’s Semi-Annual Sidewalk Sale this weekend in The Fan.
Located at 317 N. Robinson St, Deep Groove will dust off thousands of records to sell for 50 cents each.
Jay Leavitt, a former general manager of Plan 9 in Carytown, opened Deep Groove two and a half years ago. Deep Groove has held the sale in conjunction with Halcyon Vintage Clothing during April and October of the past two years to celebrate each of their respective anniversaries.
“The sale always brings a lot of VCU students out,” Levitt said. “For someone that’s just starting a record collection, there is actually a lot of really good records you can get for really cheap, so it’s a good way to build your collection up really fast.”
In addition to 50-cent records, Deep Groove will sell 12 LPs for $5 and 25 LPs for $10.
Deep Groove does record buy-backs from customers, but often, people donate records they don’t have use for to Deep Groove that the store wouldn’t buy back. In this way, Deep Groove compiles thousands of records.
Part of the proceeds from Deep Groove’s sale will go to the Harvey Family Foundation, which raises money for arts and music in local elementary schools.
Deep Groove’s Semi-Annual Sidewalk Sale will last from 11 a.m. Friday until Sunday, Oct. 9 at 6 p.m.
