Two men were arrested Friday night on weapons charges after shots were fired near the New York Fried Chicken Restaurant at 501 W. Broad St.

Richmond and VCU police responded to shots being fired around 10:30 p.m. and saw a large crowd in the restaurant parking lot and two cars leaving the scene.

Two men were arrested Friday night on weapons charges after shots were fired near the New York Fried Chicken Restaurant at 501 W. Broad St.

Richmond and VCU police responded to shots being fired around 10:30 p.m. and saw a large crowd in the restaurant parking lot and two cars leaving the scene. VCU police stopped one of the vehicles, which was found to contain a rifle. The Richmond police stopped the other vehicle, which contained a handgun.

One of the men was charged with a weapons violation, and the other for carrying a concealed weapon, along with outstanding charges of robbery and possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

Police said no one was injured in the incident, and that they will continue to monitor activities in the area.
