We are almost a month past one of the most exciting Super Bowls in recent memory and the NFL is still the talk of the sports world.

This offseason, teams have been wheeling and dealing.

You have Matt Cassel being traded to the Kansas City Chiefs for a second-round pick. Before that deal was done, it was reported that the Denver Broncos tried to acquire Cassel, which ticked off current Broncos quarterback Jay Cutler. Cutler now wants to be traded.

The Redskins paid big bucks for the top free agent by signing defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth to a seven-year, $100 million contract with $41 million in guaranteed money. The Redskins also dished out big money to cornerback DeAngelo Hall, re-signing Hall to a six-year, $54 million contract with $22.5 million guaranteed.

Linebacker Bart Scott left the Ravens to sign with the New York Jets and reunite with former Ravens defensive coordinator and new Jets coach Rex Ryan.

The St. Louis Rams signed center Jason Brown to a five-year, $37.5 million contract. The deal includes $20 million in guaranteed money. The deal made Brown the highest-paid center in the league.

The Cowboys signed former Falcons linebacker Keith Brooking and traded for quarterback Jon Kitna.

Safety Brian Dawkins signed with the Broncos.

This is why the NFL is great. It is fun to see all this movement and after all of this movement, there are still big names out there on the market.

Quarterback Kurt Warner, wide receiver T.J. Houshmandzadeh and linebacker Ray Lewis still are available on the market. Warner is expected to re-sign with the Cardinals but another team could come in and offer him big money.

Lewis is 50/50 to re-sign with Ravens and it is a certainty that Houshmandzadeh will not return to the Bengals.

The NFL manages to dominate even in the offseason.

The NBA cannot claim that. I do not remember the big moves in this past NBA offseason.

The MLB offseason was a little more memorable, but once C.C. Sabathia and Mark Teixiera signed with the Yankees, it was pretty much over. The only suspense that remains is where Manny Ramirez will sign.

No one even cares about the NHL offseason.

The NFL still captures people’s attention in the offseason. Nothing will change that. Once the big name free agents sign, the NFL Draft talk will heat up.

Once the NFL Draft is over, people will talk about how much the rookies will sign for. Once that ends, organized team activities and training camps start. Before you know, the preseason will be here.

When the Super Bowl ends, the new season begins.
