MEN’S BASKETBALL
Junior Eric Maynor (Raeford, N.C./Westover) was named one of 16 finalists for
the Bob Cousy Award, given to the best collegiate point guard in the nation, this past
week. Maynor, who averages 17.6 points and 5.1 assists, is the only candidate from
the CAA. Boston College’s Tyrese Rice (L.C. Bird) and Virginia’s Sean Singletary are
also on the list. The winner will be announced on April 7 during the Final Four.
MEN’S TENNIS
The Rams fell hard on the road on Friday, 7-0 at top-ranked Virginia. The Cavaliers
boast two of the top 15 singles players in the nation, No. 1 Somdev Devvarman and
No. 12 Treat Huey. Freshman Thibaut Charron fell (Sens, France) to Devvarman
6-1 6-1 while Martin Schulhauser (Karvina, Czech Republic) fell to Huey 6-4 6-1.
Charron and Schulauser combined to defeat the No. 28 doubles team of Michael
Shabaz and Sanam Singh 9-8 (4). However, Virginia won the other two doubles
matches to take the point.
