Facebook controversy spawns even more promiscuity pressure

Last semester, The Commonwealth Times spoke to Tucker Max, one of the most free-spirited-albeit-loathsome men on the Internet. His ongoing pursuit for sex and booze has earned him infamy on the Web, and his stories of misogyny are unique, standing out on the backdrop of millions of everyday users.

Or so one would like to think.

Instead, the Internet – particularly Facebook – has found a new challenge for such Internet legends as Max, particularly in the form of people like Atlanta college student, Brody Ruckus. Ruckus’ Facebook group, “If This Group Reaches 100,000 My Girlfriend Will Have a Threesome,” has gained attention all over the United States. Many VCU students even joined the group to support Ruckus’ promiscuous goal born of a bet made between him and Holly, his girlfriend.

On Sept. 4, Ruckus and Holly were talking about groups on Facebook such as “The Largest Group on Facebook.” When she speculated about the difficulty of creating a group so big, Ruckus challenged the issue. He jokes on the group that he “promptly slapped her.and told her that anyone, given the proper idea, could make a Facebook group of larger than normal size.”

The bet gave him an opportunity to pursue this dream and invited the masses of the Internet to help in his “quest for sexual salvation.”

“Like any red-blooded college guy, I’ve come to the conclusion that the idea of a threesome is perhaps one of the greatest things imaginable (right behind midget tossing),” Ruckus shares.

The deadline for the bet was Dec. 31. Ruckus had no idea he would reach the goal three days after creating the group.
