Documentary film to premiere in Richmond
RICHMOND, VA (JULY 7, 2005) . . . A screening of the “Lost Boys of Sudan,” an award winning documentary film that tells the compelling story of two Sudanese refugee boys on their journey from Africa to America, will be held Thursday, Aug. 18th, 6:30 p.m. at the Virginia Commonwealth University Commons Theater, 907 Floyd Ave. The 87-minute documentary is being brought to Richmond to raise awareness of the horrific plight of refugees forced to flee their homelands due to threat of persecution. The screening is sponsored by the Richmond Chapter of the Old Dominion Bar Association as a fundraiser for the relief efforts of Doctors Without Borders in the Sudan. Several speakers are planned including Megan Mylan, director of the film, the Lost Boys of Sudan who have relocated to the Richmond area and a representative from Doctors Without Borders. Immediately following the screening, the audience will have an opportunity to meet Megan Mylan and the Lost boys.
