VCU defeated Atlantic 10 tournament host and No. 3 seed George Washington University 3-0 in the semifinals round on Saturday to earn a spot in the A-10 championship match. This will be VCU’s fifth trip to a conference championship match in nine seasons.
With consecutive losses in its final two matches of the regular season, the VCU volleyball team dropped to 11-3 in the Atlantic 10, losing sole possession of first place in the conference. The Lady Rams fell to Saint Louis University 3-0 Saturday, Nov. 9 before suffering their first home loss of the season to Duquesne University 3-1 on Friday, Nov. 15.

The NCAA Playing Rules Oversight Panel has approved 28 changes to men’s and women’s basketball involving certain calls and reviews for the 2013-14 basketball season. A decreased national scoring average prompted the adjustments and free throw attempts are expected to increase as a result.
With a 3-0 win over George Mason University on Oct. 18, the VCU volleyball team claimed its eighth victory in nine matches, improving its record to 18-5 on the year.
