Behind Parks, women’s basketball improves to 3-1
The VCU women’s basketball team continued building on its strong start to the season on Thursday, Nov. 21, winning for a third time in four games. The Lady Rams picked up a 67-57 victory against the University of Texas Pan-American Broncs at the UTPA Fieldhouse in Edinburg, Texas, improving their record to 3-1 on the year.
Rams receive reality check in Puerto Rico Tip-Off tourney
With an undefeated record and its highest AP national ranking in program history, the VCU men’s basketball team experienced a bit of a rude awakening in its first two games of the 2013 Puerto Rico Tip-Off. Though the Rams managed to win their second-round matchup against Long Beach State University 73-67 on Friday, both the 49ers and the Florida State University Seminoles exposed some weaknesses in VCU’s play.
Volleyball advances to A-10 championship
VCU defeated Atlantic 10 tournament host and No. 3 seed George Washington University 3-0 in the semifinals round on Saturday to earn a spot in the A-10 championship match. This will be VCU’s fifth trip to a conference championship match in nine seasons.
Men’s soccer falls in NCAA opener for second straight season
The VCU men’s soccer season came to a disappointing close in the first round of the NCAA Tournament as the Rams fell 3-0 to the Naval Academy (16-3-2) at Sports Backers Stadium on Thursday, Nov. 21.
Food drive pits Rams against Hokies
When Shaka Smart and the VCU Rams take the court against Virginia Tech in the Governor’s Holiday Hoops Classic on Dec. 21, another competition between the two schools will already be decided.
