Dear Editor,

Ringling Brother’s circus will be in town this week and I think it is important to let readers know that the performing animals are captured in the wild and then trained with violence and confinement. Many people associate the circus with fun and do not know about the misery that the animals face every day for this entertainment. The trainers routinely use hooks to make the elephants bleed, force them to perform when they are sick, tie them with ropes, and whip and shock them. Many of the elephants work so hard they get arthritis and then have to keep performing without pain medication. The easiest way to help stop this abuse is to not give Ringling Brother’s your business and persuade people you know to do the same. More information about the abuse, and ways to help can be found online at www.ringlingbeatsanimals.com
