VCU women’s season in review
VCU women’s basketball season in review
The Rams, picked fifth in the preseason, surprised many by finishing third after losing WNBA first round draft pick Quanitra Hollingsworth off last year’s NCAA tournament team.
Coach Beth Cunningham’s team was led by experienced seniors D’Andra Moss, Kita Waller and LaTavia Rorie, although Rorie tore a ligament in her knee halfway through the season.
VCU also got huge contributions from junior Ebony Patterson, who took a much larger role after Rorie injury, and sophomore forward Courtney Hurt.
The Rams are certainly in the conversation to win the conference title, however, there is very high mountain to climb in a possible semi-final match up with James Madison, the host of the tournament, who beat the Rams twice this season.
