Gucci Group plans to continue Alexander McQueen’s Label

Gucci Group the financier behind Yves Saint Laurent, Stella McCartney and of course Gucci announced in a conference, Wednesday, that they would continue the late Alexander McQueen’s label. After the designer’s recent suicide the industry has been a buzz with worries that the label would disappear, and curiosity as to who, if anyone will be able to continue. Time will tell.

iPhone Owners: Dolce and Gabbana want you

On February 23, Italian design house Dolce and Gabbana will be livestreaming their Milan fashion show on the iPhone. The designers, who’ve been broadcasting their show, via their website since 2005, have naturally progressed to the “in vogue” technology. For those of you, who don’t own an iPhone, you can still view the show live at 9 a.m. EST on their website or Facebook page.

It has notoriously moved on its own slow-paced schedule of once-monthly magazines and four-hour late fashion shows. Fashion’s finest have always operated on a more than leisurely gait. As of late, however it seems the fashion industry has finally issued itself into the 21st century. Embracing the ever-growing trend of fast fashion, New York designer darlings, Porenza Schouler, Cynthia Rowley and Henry Holland, immediately released parts of their collection in the days after their Fashion Week shows to savvy shoppers. NY Fashion Week recap: velvet crush

It seems not even New York designers are impervious to the vampire-craze that’s swept the nation. They took a cue from Dracula’s velvet covered bat-cave and draped models in the luscious, heavy fabric from neck to foot. Whether you view it as tacky or succulent, prepare to see it in every store from Barney’s to Forever 21, this coming winter.
