Men’s Basketball
Junior Larry Sanders was named to the pre-season Wooden Award top 50 watch list. Sanders is the only CAA player who was named to the list. He is already third on the career blocks list at VCU and is on pace to become the third Ram in history to have 1,000 points and 1,000 rebounds in his career.

Volleyball
The volleyball team was selected to finish second in the preseason CAA coaches poll. Fifth year coach James Finley returns five starters to his team, which finished 19-13 last year. The Rams finished second in the league last season.
Women’s Soccer
The Women’s soccer team lost to East Carolina 2-1 on Friday in its first official match of the season. The lone VCU goal was scored by senior Jasmine Riley in the 50th minute. The team travels to Wofford on Sunday for its second match.
Men’s Soccer
The Men’s soccer team fought Duke to a scoreless tie in an exhibition game in Durham on Friday. The team will play two more exhibition games against North Carolina and Virginia Tech, and then kick off its regular season with a match against St. Francis (N.Y.) Sept. 5.
