Lost the series finale against UNC Wilmington, 9-0, this past Sunday. The Rams managed only five hits in the game, which came from five different hitters. The loss dropped VCU to 1-2 in the CAA and 10-7 overall. The Rams start a three-game series at Western Kentucky Friday.

MEN’S TRACK AND FIELD
Juniors Stephen Mutisya (Machakos, Kenya) and Piotr Dybas (Jaslo, Poland) finished second in the 3,000 and 5,000-meter races, respectively. Mutisya posted a time of 8:32.77 while Dybas ran a 14:32.40, a personal best. Sophomores John Vial (Glen Allen/Hermitage) and Chris Derose (Alexandria/West Potomac) and senior Joey Wingo (Richmond/Lee-Davis) also post personal bests in the 5,000-meter run. Vial ran a 15:20.26, Derose ran a 15:45.42 while Wingo ran a 15:23.75. Freshman Tyler Simmons (Manassas/Osbourn Park) ran a 1:55.02 in the 800-meter race, a personal best. Sophomore Antonio Norvell (Portsmouth/I.C. Norcom) placed third in the 100-meter dash, running a 10.96. The Rams host the Fred Hardy Invitational this weekend at Sports Backers Stadium.
