Crushed No. 17 UNC Wilmington 18-11 in CAA opener Friday night. Justin Wright (Yorktown/Grafton) went 4-6 with two doubles and a home run, driving in five runs. Saturday, the Rams lost to the Seahawks 5-2. Doug Otto (Jefferson City, Mo./ Jefferson City Community College) parked a home run and drove in two runs in the loss.

Saturday, the Rams lost to the Seahawks 5-2. Doug Otto (Jefferson City, Mo./ Jefferson City Community College) parked a home run and drove in two runs in the loss. The Rams were shut out in Sunday’s rubber match, 9-0. The series brings VCU to 10-7 overall and 1-2 in the CAA. The Rams head to Blacksburg to take on Virginia Tech on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.
GOLF
Finished tied for third at the Pinehurst Intercollegiate in North Carolina. The Rams finished the 54-hole event with an aggregate 288, even par. That gave the Rams a team score of 13-over for the tournament placing them third in the 21-team field. Sophomore Mark Jargren (Helsingborg, Sweden) had another strong performance finishing the event at 1-over par, ranking him in a tie for eighth. The next event for VCU will be the Augusta State Invitational on April 4-5.
MEN’S TENNIS
Competed in the Blue Gray Classic in Montgomery, Ala., over the weekend. On Thursday, lost to Texas Tech 4-0. The Rams followed with a 4-2 loss to Penn State on Friday. Emil Lindgren (Stocksund, Sweden) and Nicolas Vinel (Metz, France) grabbed individual victories for VCU. In their final match of the tournament Saturday, the Rams grabbed a 4-3 victory over Mississippi State. Benjamin Bouhana (Paris, France), Filip Svensson (Angelholm, Sweden) and Thibaut Charron (Sens, France), along with Vinel were singles winners for the Rams. After the matches, Rams move to 11-6 on the season.
