BROAD STREET BLAZE
A car fire on the 800 block of West Broad Street stopped traffic during rush hour Wednesday night.
The white 1988 Jeep Cherokee was billowing smoke on the eastbound side of the street as its occupants stood nearby watching. One of the occupants held on to an Xbox LIVE as the other two called for assistance.

The white 1988 Jeep Cherokee was billowing smoke on the eastbound side of the street as its occupants stood nearby watching. One of the occupants held on to an Xbox LIVE as the other two called for assistance.
Both VCU police and Richmond police responded and directed traffic as firefighters hosed down the Jeep. After the fire department said the scene was safe, the owner of the vehicle retrieved her belongings and said, “I just bought this car yesterday!”
