Maturing bodies, undeveloped minds

Dear Editor,

Lately the opinion column of The CT has been lacking attractive reading material of any sort. I understand that these pieces of writing are the opinions of Ms. Sonies, but I believe this particular column should reflect the opinions and beliefs of the VCU student body also.

Dear Editor,

Lately the opinion column of The CT has been lacking attractive reading material of any sort. I understand that these pieces of writing are the opinions of Ms. Sonies, but I believe this particular column should reflect the opinions and beliefs of the VCU student body also. The last publication was not at all appealing. Attributing our team’s defeat to luck, staying in school to avoid searching for a job and speculating that because Gov. Sarah Palin no longer has the liberal media’s attention “it can’t mean anything good”; these are statements that seem to be the random whimsies of an opinion editor who has nothing to write about.

I find that very unusual, because in this time there is plenty to write about, though this might not necessarily be a good thing. Ms. Sonies, I would prefer that you write about something of some importance. Inspire controversy and debate, for in a world growing in complexity we need to learn how to think. We are becoming young men and women, but if we do not develop our minds we will simply be childish adults with diplomas. If you don’t like Sarah Palin, then articulate your ideas in an analytical fashion deserving of more attention. Even if your readers don’t agree, you will still have our respect.

Sincerely,
Michael Boiteau
