Dear Editor,

Republicans are at it again. With a new president in office, Republicans have decided to take this opportunity and revamp their image. They now have decided to accept minorities as major figure heads into their party. After seeing the overwhelming support that President Barack Obama received, Republicans are now trying to appear as people who find comfort in change by electing Michael Steele as the first African-American to be the chairman of the Republican National Committee.

This audacious move by Republicans is a way for them to fix their image of “old white men” to a new community of politicians who come from all backgrounds and are everyday people.

Personally I am appalled that Republicans have sunk this low just to win, but this is no surprise considering during the election they were trying to depict Obama as a terrorist. Republicans are toting their new toy as the man who can fix the weaknesses of the Republican Party and as the man who can take on Obama for the 2012 election.

Michael Steele is a weak man who is only looking for fame. He says he will be able to lead the Republicans toward a new beginning, where they will be able to regain all the red states that were lost in the 2008 presidential election. Steele even has won the backing of right wing FOX reporter Sean Hannity.

This is reassurance for the puppet masters that if they make Steele the Republican candidate for 2012 election, they might have a strong ticket on their hands. It is still early, but these dirty tricks by the Republicans likely will become more prevalent.

It is up to Democrats and the American people to see through these lies and continue to vote for justice and truth.

Sincerely,
Ireti Adesanya
