Everybody loves “The Office.” Well, not everybody, but I would surmise that 86.7 percent of people enjoy NBC’s television adventure. In fact, some of us love the show so much, we know that it has helped to make the kitschy, humorous catchphrase “that’s what she said” very popular.
VCU can save students money
As the nation’s elected officials debate how best to address the country’s mounting financial problems, the rest of us are already beginning to deal with our own personal cutbacks. As the Gov. Timothy M. Kaine’s proposed budget has highlighted, there will be reductions across the board for public programs, including a 15 percent budget cut in funding to institutions of higher learning.
What was your reaction to Tuesday’s inauguration?
Students around campus had a variety of reactions to the Jan. 20 inauguration of President Barack Obama. They commented Wednesday about their impressions of the event and their thoughts regarding Obama and his presidential term.

Confidential tip line new at VCU
VCU will set up a confidential tip line next month in an effort to prevent ethical violations, such as the unmerited awarding of a bachelor’s degree to former Richmond Police Chief Rodney Monroe in 2008.
Monroe only took six credits at VCU before being awarded a degree.
Students travel to inauguration
At 3 a.m. on Tuesday, 41 VCU students and Richmond locals took a charter bus to join others at the inauguration of the 44th President, Barack Obama.
The trip was organized by VCU students Josh Kadrich and Katherine Rivara, who wanted to attend the inauguration.

Saturday was quite possibly the best day of college basketball there has been this season.
But one thing I noticed was the constant argument made over which major conference is the best in the nation.
There is no doubt which two conferences are in the argument.
Coaches out of luck, work in NFL offseason
At the conclusion of the NFL regular season, the coaching carousel always begins to turn.
This season there seems to be more well-known coaches out of work as the season comes to an end and the draft is right around the corner. Not only are no-names out this season, but now some future Hall-of-Famers will find themselves jobless as 2009 begins.

Lesser known sports figures made difference
Jesse Owens, Jackie Robinson and Muhammad Ali are some of the names that come up when talking about sports figures that helped to spark social change in this country on and off the field. On the heels of Barack Obama’s inauguration, it is important to understand that there were other people in the sports world that don’t necessarily get the credit they deserve.
