The Virginia Foundation for Community College Education has raised $2 million toward its goal of $10 million to endow a program to provide financial support for foster children to attend the commonwealth’s community colleges.

Foundation board member Cate Maginnis Wyatt of Waterford said less than 3 percent of Virginia’s 8,000 children in foster care will earn a college degree.
