Va. National Guard to help with Gustav

    The Virginia National Guard is sending soldiers and airmen to help with response efforts related to Hurricane Gustav.
    Gov. Timothy M. Kaine activated the Emergency Management Assistance Compact this past week, allowing for the sharing of resources in response to disasters.
    The Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries sent 30 law-enforcement officials to the region Monday. They were expected to return Tuesday but were called back to assist Louisiana emergency officials, who are being swamped by calls.
