MEN’S BASKETBALL

Rising senior Eric Maynor (Raeford,
N.C./Westover) announced
earlier this week that he will return
to VCU for his senior year despite
reports that he possibly could have
been selected in this year’s NBA
draft. The point guard averaged 17.9
points and 5.5 assists per game and
led the Rams to a 24-8 record this
past season.

GOLF

VCU finished 5th of 12 competing
teams at the CAA Championships,
held at the Golden Horseshoe
Gold Course in Williamsburg, Va.
The Rams finished 26-over-par, 35
strokes behind champion Georgia
State. Freshman Mark Jargen (Helsingborg,
Sweden) led the charge for
VCU, finishing 6th overall with an
even-par 213 over three days.

In other news .

Head coach Matt Ball signed
Chase Sargent (Orlando, Fla./
Olympia) to a National Letter of
Intent Monday. Sargent was named
player of the week by GolfWeek
Nov. 19.

MEN’S SOCCER
Head coach Tim O’Sullivan
announced the addition of Marco
Genée to the coaching staff Monday.
The new coach comes to VCU after
a two-year stint with Triangle United
Soccer Association and is well
known for his recruiting prowess
in Europe.

WOMEN’S SOCCER

Rising junior Myriam Bouchard
(Quebec City, Quebec/Cardinal
Roy) and incoming freshman Molly
Allen (Halifax, Nova Scotia/Halifax
West) were both invited to training
camp with the Canadian National
U-20 team. Training begins in Indianapolis
this weekend and ends
May 4, when both Bouchard and
Allen will find out if they will
compete with the National team
this summer.

MEN’S TENNIS

Following the Rams’ recent CAA
Tournament title, senior Damien
Lacombe (Perigueux, France) was
named most-outstanding performer
for the tournament. Lacombe won
two singles matches in the tournament.

WOMEN’S TRACK AND FIELD

Seniors Danielle Williams (Virginia
Beach/Salem) and Frankie
Moore (Chesapeake/Great Bridge)
both took home second-place
finishes in this past weekend’s
CAA Championships. Williams
finished with a time of 4:32.52 in
the 1,500-meter dash while Moore
registered a 5-foot-5-inch leap in
the high jump.

VOLLEYBALL

Head coach James Finley announced
this past week the signing
of four players to National
Letters of Intent. The signees are:
middle blocker Courtney Hott
(Fredericksburg/Courtland), libero
Alyssa Foster (Richmond/Mills Godwin),
middle blocker Eileen Giffey
(Hamburg, Germany) and outside
hitter Kristin Boyd (Wilmington,
N.C./Hoggard).
