MEN’S BASKETBALL

The Rams picked up wins on the
road at Georgia State 65-60 in overtime
and at Delaware 83-73. Junior
Eric Maynor (Raeford, N.C./Westover)
scored 16 against the Panthers
and 21 against the Blue Hens to lead
the team in scoring in both games. At
Delaware, freshman Joey Rodriguez
(Oviedo, Fla./Lake Howell) recorded
seven steals for the second time in
three games. The Rams are now 18-5
overall and 11-2 in the CAA. They
increased their conference lead to
two games after George Mason lost to
Old Dominion. The Rams host James
Madison Wednesday at 7 p.m.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

Despite building an eight-point
second-half lead and allowing fewer
points than they have since Nov.
13, the Rams fell 42-37 at Delaware
Thursday. The Rams were held to
their lowest point total of the season.
Junior Quanitra Hollingsworth
(Chesapeake/Great Bridge) notched
her third consecutive double-double
with 12 points and a season-high 17
rebounds. Sophomore La’Tavia Rorie
(Charlotte, N.C./Harding University)
matched the Blue Hens assist total
with eight of her own.

MEN’S TRACK AND FIELD

Sophomores DeAngelo Wilson
(Richmond/Prince Edward County),
Jason Gallo (Rochester, N.Y./Eastridge)
and Jamal Blyden (Virginia
Beach/Landstown) and freshman
Antonio Norvell (Portsmouth/I.C.
Norton) earned third place for
VCU in the 4×200 relay with a
time of 1:27.81 at the New Balance
Collegiate Invitational. Senior Cary
Chaffee (Richmond/Hermitage) and
junior Guy Alton (New Kent/New
Kent) placed in the top 25 in the
one-mile run. The Rams return to
the track Feb. 22 at the Virginia Tech
Invitational.
