the CTube
For this edition of the CTube, we have to travel back in time. We must forget everything we know about Playstation, Xbox and Nintendo Wii. We must go back to our much simpler roots of old-school Nintendo. Anyone who grew up in the ’80s and early ’90s remembers the classic game Duck Hunt, whose controller was a toy gun.
The purpose: simply killing ducks. Flash forward a few years and an immensely popular game called Street Fighter II was released. Street Fighter II brought together combatants from all over the globe to do as the title says.
What do these games have to do with one another? Usually nothing at all, except someone creatively combined the two games. Titled “Ryu Trains,” the video uses Japanese Street Fighter II character Ryu to take out ducks with all of the fighter’s moves. The hunting dog featured in the original Duck Hunt obediently picks up the ducks that Ryu kicks, uppercuts and destroys with fireballs – all of this within the friendly confines of a combined Street Fighter II/Duck Hunt setting.
For the old-school gamer, this is truly a masterpiece.
Looking for an entertaining video on YouTube can be like searching for a needle in a haystack. With users uploading at least 65,000 new videos a day, it’s hard to know what to look for and where to find it. That’s why the CT has created the CTube. Issue to issue, we’ll weed through all the good, bad and ugly that YouTube has to offer to find what we think, at the least, will hold your attention. No need to spend more time than necessary on YouTube when Facebook already consumes half of your day, right?
