Rams don’t look past Tribe, but fall to Pride

HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. – All good things must come to and end, and VCU’s winning streak finally has.

Antoine Agudio scored 30 points and Loren Stokes added 21 as the Hofstra Pride toppled the Rams 79-68 last night.

The loss brings Hofstra back to within one game of VCU in the CAA standings.

The loss brings Hofstra back to within one game of VCU in the CAA standings. The Pride slipped to two games back after a loss to Delaware and a VCU win over William & Mary on Monday.

Wil Fameni (Duoala, Cameroon/Amelia Academy) recorded a double-double for VCU, scoring 15 points and grabbing 14 rebounds.

Jamal Shuler (Jacksonville, N.C./Jacksonville) followed up his career performance against William & Mary with a 17-point effort. Eric Maynor (Fayetteville, N.C./Westover) added 15 points.

RICHMOND, Va. – A 3-pointer by junior Jamal Shuler to end the first half showed what kind of night VCU had shooting the ball.

“One of those nights,” Shuler said.

Shuler had a career high 24 points in the 90-68 victory over William & Mary.

The Rams shot 50 percent from behind three-point arc in the win. After a 13-2 run with 10:03 in the first half forced W&M to call a timeout, VCU never looked back.

“I felt tonight was going to be a very dangerous game,” coach Anthony Grant said.

The Rams took the “danger” out of the game, with superb shooting and solid defense. VCU lead by as many as 27 points.

Senior guard B.A. Walker (Onancock, Va./Nandua) shot a near perfect 6 for 8 from the three-point line, adding 20 points.

Eric Maynor added 15 points, seven assists and only two turnovers. Forward Will Fameni also chipped in with 14 points.
