Contestants for Homecoming Court presented their platforms Tuesday night at a meet and greet in the Richmond Salons in the University Student Commons.

Since the Homecoming 2007 theme is “The Real World,” competitors showed short videos of their personal lives.

In one video a contestant showed her bedroom and her dog; in another, a girl had her sorority cheer for her and talk about how great she is.

Other videos showed contestants making campaign posters and fliers. Because of time constraints, not all contestants got to show their videos.

Juliet Ford and Zakia Williams seemed to be the most popular, as the crowd responded well to their catch phrases. The homecoming king and queen from 2006 introduced all the candidates.

Faith Wilkerson, Commons programs coordinator, warned the court not to gang up on people or hassle them, but to campaign on an individual basis. Wilkerson said she has received complaints regarding pushy contestant behavior.
