Energy and laughter filled the Commonwealth Ballroom Saturday evening, when a crowd of about 100 students gathered for the Local Talent Comedy Show.
The show brought three professional comedians to VCU for a free show, as one of the opening events for Homecoming 2007.
Pat Dean, a senior English major and comedian, hosted the show. Other performers were Nick Cantone and Odyssey Michaels from Richmond, and Erik Meyers from Baltimore, Md.
Jokes were about VCU being the only place where North and South were following the same left sign on the highway, and the difference between love and sex being a $20 bill.
Organizers and comedians were happy with the turnout of the show at the end of the evening.
“I feel happy. It was a good show. People laughed and I couldn’t be more pleased,” Cantone said. “We told jokes, and they laughed, and when we told bad jokes, they stared at us.”
Michaels said he enjoyed the show and thought it was well organized.
“I had a wonderful time. The people that put this event together did a wonderful job,” Michaels said. “It was absolute pleasure to come and perform.”
