The wins raise VCU’s record to 3-4 in the CAA and 10-7 overall. Junior Krystal Vaughn (Baltimore/Lake Clifton-Eastern) scored six of her 16 points over the final 2:10 to ensure the victory over Northeastern.

Junior Krystal Vaughn (Baltimore/Lake Clifton-Eastern) scored six of her 16 points over the final 2:10 to ensure the victory over Northeastern. VCU led by as much as 20 but let the lead slip before Vaughn took over.
The win over Georgia State went into overtime despite the double-digit margin. Miranda Smith (Chesapeake, Va./Indian River) hit a layup with 4:07 left in the extra period to give the Rams the lead for good. Michele Cosel (Mechanicsville, Va./Atlee) and Vaughn combined for nine points in overtime. Sophomore All-American Quanitra Hollingsworth (Chesapeake, Va./Great Bridge) recorded a double-double with 13 rebounds and 10 points but fouled out in regulation.
WOMEN’S TRACK
Verniece Johnson (Mineral, Va./Louisa) won the long jump event and finished fifth in the 200 meters dash at the Navy Invitational. Frankie Moore (Chesapeake, Va./Great Bridge) finished second in the high jump and Ashley Rogers (Chesapeake, Va./Deep Creek) finished third in the hammer throw.
MEN’S TRACK
The Rams were well represented at the University of Maryland Invitational, winning the distance medley and having many team members finish highly.
Jackie Deshazo (Mechanicsville, Va./Atlee), James Frierson (Richmond, Va./ Highland Springs), Jason Gallo (Rochester, N.Y./Eastridge) and Davion Lambert (Richmond, Va./Varina) all finished in the top 15 in multiple events. They finished second, sixth and tenth respectively in the 60 meters dash. Frierson finished second in the 200 meters dash while Gallo finished fourteenth. Deshazo placed fifth in the 400 meters dash. Davion Lambert finished second in the triple jump and fourth in the high jump.
MEN’S TENNIS
Through Saturday’s matches at the 4 X 1 Invitational hosted by VCU, the Rams are 4-0. VCU swept all of their opponents, starting with 3-0 and 5-0 victories over Drexel and Richmond on Friday. On Saturday, VCU defeated Delaware and James Madison in 5-0 sweeps.
WOMEN’S TENNIS
Marianna Yuferova (St. Petersburg, Russia) won her Flight A singles match at the University of Virginia Invitational. She also earned a doubles win with teammate Olga Borisova (Minsk, Belarus).
