Rams sweep doubleheader after falling in extra inning

Tim St. Clair (Woodbridge, Va.) belted six hits, including two homers, as the Rams swept a doubleheader against the Patriots on Sunday.

Sophomore Sergio Miranda’s (Bayamon, Puerto Rico) three-run homer in the first helped the Rams to a 4-3 victory and Joe Meador (Mechanicsville/Lee-Davis High School) joined St. Clair in going deep in the second game, which VCU won 9-4.
Pitcher John Leonard (Virginia Beach/Kellam High School) went the distance in the first game, pitching all seven innings and striking out seven batters and walking three.
In the late game Cody Eppley (Dillsburg, Pa.) picked up his second win on the mound, striking out four batters in five innings of work.
Starting the series off on Friday, George Mason dropped VCU 4-3 after scoring two runs in the bottom of the 10th inning. Miranda had three hits and a run.
The Rams are 1-5 in extra-inning games.
