Richmond Times-Dispatch’s John Packett reported in Monday’s edition that Norwood Teague is likely to be named VCU’s next director of athletics.
Teague, the associate director for marketing and promotions at the University of North Carolina, would replace Richard L. Sander, who is stepping down on July 1 to head VCU’s Sports Center.
A news conference to announce the university’s choice is likely to take place Monday or Tuesday according to Packett.
Teague’s previous positions include general manager of the Sun Devil Sports Network, director of basketball operations for men and women, and director of marketing at the University of Virginia.
The most pressing issue for the new AD is to hire a replacement for Jeff Capel, who departed VCU last week after four seasons as coach to take the same position at the University of Oklahoma.
