Matt Suter, 19, was in his family’s trailer home when it was hit by the twister.
“It got louder and louder, like 10 military jets coming at us,” he said.
“Suddenly there was lots of pressure inside the house. The front and back doors that were both locked came off their hinges and blew out.”
Suter was then sucked out of the trailer by the tornado and traveled 200 yards. He landed in a field with only minor injuries.
“I’ve always told my girlfriend I wanted to see a tornado,” he said. “But I sure didn’t want to be in one.”
Muggers outrun 1984 Olympic gold medalist
1984 Olympic gold medalist Doina Melinte could not catch up with a group of teenage robbers who stole her purse at a gas station.
Melinte, a Romanian, holds the European record for the 1,500-meter event.
Three teenagers confronted her and took her purse, which had about $30,000 in it that she was planning to use to make a down payment for a parcel of land.
Melinte, who won gold in the 800-meter event and silver in the 1,500 meters, gave chase but lost the trio after about half a mile.
“I ran after them for about half a mile,” she said, “but could not catch them and I lost them at some point.”
Police say they have identified the robbers.
Man gets romantic with snake
A Malaysian man claims to hold a new record after kissing a king cobra 51 times in three minutes.
Shahimi Abdul Hamid kissed the snake in front of an assembly of hotel guests.
The snake farm supervisor reportedly used his agility to avoid being bitten by the cobra.
“Malaysians should know that if one has sufficient knowledge of reptiles, there would be no problem in dealing with them,” Shahimi said.
