Program trains future leaders
Before its name change, some students may not have known a program such as Emerging Nonprofit Leaders even existed at VCU.

“We are renaming the program because we think the new name speaks a little more about what the program is about and what we are trying to do in the American Humanics International Program,” Diamond said.
Veronica Childers, a graduate social work student in the Office of Community Programs, said the former title was a bit ambiguous.
“I know as an undergraduate if I had found something like this, it would have been great,” she said. “But I know I would have passed over it, because the name doesn’t tell you anything about the program.”
Basically, the community programs office helps train students for working with nonprofit agencies and companies through education and certification for employment.
“Students get specific training on community programs and nonprofit organizations,” Childers said. “And they get a certificate, which helps them with creditability and getting a job. It is great for a r
