Virginia Commonwealth University won five matches during the weekend by 5-0 margins at Thalhimer Tennis Center. The Rams opened by defeating cross-town rival Richmond and Drexel. Emil Lindgren (Stocksund, Sweden) was the only Rams’ player to claim two singles victories on Friday.

Georges-Alexandre Israel (Marseille, France) won two singles matches Saturday as the Rams downed in-state rival James Madison and The Naval Academy. Francesc Lleal (Barcelona, Spain) and Sergi Arumi (Barcelona, Spain) won singles matches at #1 and #2 respectively against the Dukes, then teamedup to defeat Navy’s doubles team.

VCU continued its dominance on Sunday, defeating East Tennessee State. Arnaud Lecloerc (Plouhinec, France), Lleal, and Arumi won in straight sets, and Israel pulled out a 7-5, 4-6, 6-2 third-set victory.

The Rams closed the tournament with a match against Georgetown Sunday night.
