Franz Ferdinand – You Could Have It So Much Better

Right from the start, Franz Ferdinand’s new disc, “You Could Have It So Much Better,” starts off so much better (no pun intended) than their last. The first track, “Fallen, The,” is a beat-heavy dance track that starts the CD off really fast. The band finds no reason to start it slow and build it up – they get right into it.

After that, you get the album’s first single, “Do You Want To,” which is a lot better than the band’s single from their last CD, “Take Me Out.” The band slows it down with the fourth track, “Walk Away,” which is probably one of the disc’s downsides. The lyrics aren’t anything special and it doesn’t do a lot for the album. After that, though, the band picks it right back up with two more tracks that will be great for your next dance party. But of course for some reason, they slow it back down again with the seventh track, “Eleanor Put Your Boots On,” which is another song that feels really out of place. Three more dance songs, a slow one, and a fast one close it all out. If Franz Ferdinand would have taken out the slow songs, this CD would have been a lot better. Unfortunately, those songs bring it down.
