Marriage of Fiagaro
This letter is in response to an article written by Benjamin Gibson on the play Marriage of Fiagaro posting 2 May 2005.
I, along with several family members drove four hours to attend that play and for a very special reason. My niece Tiara Walker was cast as the Countess, the wife of the Count in this play. Tiara peformed brilliantly and it was very obvious why she was selected for this role. Our family is extremly proud of her!!!
While reading Mr.Gibson’s synopsis of what the play was about and giving kudos to several cast members, it was duly noted that he listed at least three characters and identified them by name.
Not once did he identify my neice, Tiara Walker, by name or even acknowledged her contribution this cast.
I am outraged at his obvious snubbing of Tiara’s
outstanding peformance in this play. If you read his article there is no way you will interpret Mr. Gibson’s exclusion of Tiara’s performance as an oversight. My perception of Mr. Gibson’s excluding Tiara’s identity, total disregard to her peformance, and contribution to this play was outright offensive, rude, demeaning, and humilating. I do not need to make the statement and say Mr. Gibson showed a lack of professionalism… its obvious by what he wrote he is not even parallel to a professional writer. I do believe the publisher of this paper owes Tiara an acknowledgement in this play and an apology. It is obvious that some folks have “small minds”.
I applaud the casting directors for their selection of the diverse group of cast members to peform these colorful roles. I urge the director’s to make this “oversight” right.
