VCU Recreational Sports will hold the 2004 Jack Corazzini Memorial Golf Tournament on Oct. 29 in honor of former the former VCU professor John “Jack” Corazzini.
The event will begin at noon at Sycamore Creek Golf Course in Manakin-Sabot, Va. There will be food and prizes. The fee of $55 per person includes green fees, cart, range balls, dinner and prizes.
The playing format will be four-person captain’s choice.
Jack Corazzini was a pioneer in the field of psychology as well as director of VCU’s counseling center from 1980 to 1999.
Event spokesperson Constantine Alexakos said in a statement that Corazzini, also a former Catholic priest, “has left behind a legacy of hope for those he helped while alive.”
The university already has a scholarship in Corazzini’s name. The John G. Corazzini Award in Group Research was established within months of his death. The $1000 award will be given each year to a graduate student studying some aspect of counseling.
The tournament is being held in honor of the man and his accomplishments. Registration for the event runs through Oct. 22 at the Stuart C. Siegel Center.
