Women’s Tennis perfect after 14 matches
The VCU Women’s Tennis team is still perfect after 14 matches. The No. 16 team in the nation bumped their record up to 14-0 after a 4-2 win against Campbell University Saturday, in Richmond.
The inclement weather rematch featured singles match wins from freshman Beatriz Cabrera, junior Barbora Zahnova, junior Silvia Urickova, and sophomore Ana Franco Lopez.

Cabrera defeated opponenent Kerstin Stockinger 6-2, 6-2. Zahnova silenced Pascale Veraverbeke 6-1. 6-0. Urickova and Lopez shut out Mila Pinto and Lindsey Hughes, respectively.
The Friday before the match, new Omni Hotels Collegiate Tennis rankings showed the Rams improve seven places, from the No. 23 to the No. 16 position.
Women’s Tennis has now had eight victories at home, five road victories and one on neutral ground.
So far this season, the women’s team has seen victories against Old Dominion, North Carolina State, Maryland, Virginia, Tulsa, SMU, South Alabama and several other universities.
Several players on the team still have perfect individual records, including Zahnova, who was 9-0 before the match against Campbell.
Women’s Tennis’ next match is against Oregon, March 28, at the Thalhimer Tennis Center at 2 p.m.
