$1.5 million upgrade to campus surveillance system under way
The old cameras will be replaced with high definition ones that allow VCU PD to access and search images more easily. A similar project exists for the medical campus, but planning is ongoing.

The VCU Police Department reports that more than 1,130 users so far have downloaded the new LiveSafe security app since its launch on Aug. 16. The app allows users to send pictures and videos, text a tip or make a phone call to VCUPD.
