It’s always disconcerting (and, to be honest, entertaining) to received a security alert from VCU. Not only are they an immediate and direct form of communicating pertinent information to students, they also function as a sort of environmental security benchmark for the student populace.
That is, if you actually receive the alert messages.
Mothers Against Drunk Driving partnered with VCU’s Wellness Resource Center, the VCU Police Department, VCU’s Pan-Hellenic Council and the Napoleon Taxicab Service this week to host an event to raise awareness against drunk driving.
The VCU Police Department reports that more than 1,130 users so far have downloaded the new LiveSafe security app since its launch on Aug. 16. The app allows users to send pictures and videos, text a tip or make a phone call to VCUPD.
