Monument Avenue is beautiful in every season, perpetually the pride of Richmond. It is, however, a pride in need of examination, one unfulfilled and one that does not justly or appropriately honor our past.

Collegiate hackers compete in first 24-hour VCU hackathon

Half-eaten pizza, candy wrappers and cans of Mountain Dew are strewn around notepads and laptops. Fingers furiously attack keyboards as they enter code into a program. Spirits were high this Saturday afternoon, but within a couple hours, these student-hackers would require more pizza, candy and Dew — their life-sustaining “mana” in the 18th hour.

Surprise beatdown! Men’s basketball wins

VCU men’s basketball came away with their first win of the 2014-15 season, against the University of Tennessee, 85-69. The game was played at the Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland where the Rams took part in the Inaugural Veterans Classic.

A discussion merrits awareness, not much else. A discussion of global problems is necesarry however it’s action that is needed in order for these problems to have any change. This past summer I had the opportunity to broaden my horizon and travel to countries that I’d only read about in a history textbook.
