The Rams lost the series opener to Western Kentucky this past Friday, 11-9. Junior Doug Otto (Jefferson City, Mo./Helias) had four hits, including a home run, to lead the Rams. Freshman Josh Alford (Midlothian/Trinity Episcopal) and junior Richard Gonzalez (Caguas, Puerto Rico/PRBA) led the Rams with two RBIs.

Freshman Josh Alford (Midlothian/Trinity Episcopal) and junior Richard Gonzalez (Caguas, Puerto Rico/PRBA) led the Rams with two RBIs. The Rams lost the second game of the series, 20-7. Sophomore Joe Van Meter (Oyster Bay, N.Y./St. Dominic) led the Rams with three hits. Van Meter and freshman Taylor Perkins (Dinwiddie/Dinwiddie) each had two RBIs. The pair of losses dropped the Rams to 10-9 on the season. The Rams return to action Tuesday at The Diamond against VMI.
WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
Head coach Beth Cunningham was named coach of the year in the commonwealth of Virginia by the Richmond Times-Dispatch this past Tuesday. On Wednesday, Cunningham was named to the USA Basketball Women’s Junior National Team Committee. Cunningham will serve as the Athlete Representative.
MEN’S SOCCER
Rams senior goalkeeper Andrew Dykstra (Woodbridge/Osbourn Park) signed a contract with the Chicago Fire of Major League Soccer this past Friday.
MEN’S TENNIS
Shutout against No. 10 Baylor, 7-0, this past Friday. The loss dropped the Rams to 11-7. VCU returns to action April 1 at William and Mary.
