MEN’S BASKETBALL

The Rams scored two victories this past week. On Jan. 14, the Rams defeated Towson, 78-71. Senior Eric Maynor (Raeford, N.C./Westover) scored 27 points and dished out nine assists. Sophomore Larry Sanders (Fort Pierce, Fla./Port St. Lucie) recorded a double-double as he scored 13 points and grabbed 10 rebounds while blocking three shots.

Saturday was quite possibly the best day of college basketball there has been this season.

But one thing I noticed was the constant argument made over which major conference is the best in the nation.

Coaches out of luck, work in NFL offseason

At the conclusion of the NFL regular season, the coaching carousel always begins to turn.

This season there seems to be more well-known coaches out of work as the season comes to an end and the draft is right around the corner. Not only are no-names out this season, but now some future Hall-of-Famers will find themselves jobless as 2009 begins.

SANTOGOLD DEBUT packed with energy, refreshing sounds

With indisputable talent and ear-friendly tunes, it is a wonder why it took Santogold so long to release her own record. The 32-year-old artist (born Santi White) is no stranger to the music industry: she majored in music in college and was a record company representative and producer.

LAYIN’ DOWN THE ROOTS

Jazz legend Charlie Haden was a staple in the jazz scene for the latter half of the 20th century. Recording with everyone from Ornette Coleman and John Coltrane to Chick Correa and Herbie Hancock, it may seem the bassist is a little pigeon-holed into the jazz idiom.
