Authorities are investigating the cause of a building collapse in suburban Richmond that killed one construction worker and injured another.

Crews on Thursday night wrapped up the search of the retail and residential building that collapsed Wednesday at Chester Village Green, a mixed-use development located about 15 miles south of Richmond.

Investigators are now examining the debris to figure out why the 60-foot long structure collapsed. Chesterfield County police Captain Robert Skowron says structural engineers are on the scene looking for answers.

The collapse killed 38-year-old Scott Giordano of Disputanta.
