The golf team finished third at the Maryland Intercollegiate at River Marsh Golf Club. The tournament was changed from 54 holes in two days to 36 holes in one day because of Tropical Storm Hanna. The Rams found themselves in fourth place after the morning round.

The golf team finished third at the Maryland Intercollegiate at River Marsh Golf Club. The tournament was changed from 54 holes in two days to 36 holes in one day because of Tropical Storm Hanna. The Rams found themselves in fourth place after the morning round. In the afternoon, VCU shot the second-best round in the tournament. The Rams finished the tournament with a 3-under 565. Arkansas won the title with a 24-under 544. Junior Lanto Griffin (Blacksburg/Blacksburg) tied for fifth individually. He shot a 4-under 138. Junior Vincent Nadeau (Penhook/Purdue) placed seventh individually with a 3-under 139.
FIELD HOCKEY
This past Sunday, the field hockey team defeated Radford 5-2. The win improved the Rams’ record to 3-1. Sophomore Marle van Dessel (Oisterwijk, The Netherlands/Odulphus Lyceum) scored two goals and assisted on two others. Nikki Hollibaugh (Spotsylvania/Massaponax) added two goals of her own. VCU’s five goals were the most they have scored since they scored seven at Monmouth Aug. 27, 2006. Senior Laura Baker (Kent, England/Langley Park) made six saves.
