Canadian sends 3,700 love letters

A Canadian man is writing to 3,700 Belgian women named Sabine in an attempt to track down a woman he met in Cuba.

Marc Lachance met a Belgian woman called Sabine on a bus trip to Havana.

“We liked each other and spent the day together,” Lachance said. “But I was too shy to ask her address or telephone number.”

Lachance realized that she might be ‘the one’ upon his return to Canada and began trying to track her down.

“Finally, I looked up in the phonebook the addresses of all women named Sabine,” he said. “There are 3,700 of them. I was shocked it’s such a popular name.”

Lachance has written to all the women named Sabine in Brussels. He also plans to send letters to the Sabines in the rest of the country.

“It is costing me a lot of money,” he said. “And what if her name is not in the phonebook – I dare not think of that.”

Man refuses to not eat furry friend

While inspecting a restaurant in Dekalb county, Georgia, a health inspector found a frozen guinea pig in a freezer.

The chef told the inspector that the guinea pig was for his consumption and not on the menu.

The inspector says the chef should have had a receipt for the animal and that it should have been labeled “personal food.”

Chimp makes a monkey of art expert

A German ‘art expert’ was tricked into believing a painting done by a chimpanzee was actually painted by a respected artist.

Dr. Katja Schneider, director of the State Art Museum in Moritzburg, Saxony-Anhalt, believed the painting was by Guggenheim Prize winning artist Ernst Wilhelm Nay.

“It looks like an Ernst Wilhelm Nay,” Schneider said. “He was famous for using such blotches of color.”

The painting is actually a Banghi, a chimpanzee painter who works from the Halle Zoo.

According to zoo workers, painting is a favorite pastime of the 31-year-old female ape, but her works are often destroyed by her mate.

Upon learning the identity of the real painter, Schneider said: “I did think it looked a bit rushed.”

Man caught in frozen toilet

A man got stuck in a portable toilet for more than an hour after the door iced over as temperatures in Germany plummeted to minus 4 degrees.

Czech truck driver Petr Zeman stopped for a break at a gas station while driving through Lichtenau, Germany. After closing the door to the portable toilet, he found that it had frozen shut when he was finished.

“I thought I was going to die in there it was so cold,” Zeman said. “I kept shouting for help but nobody heard me.”

Another truck driver eventually heard the man’s cries for help when he went to use the toilet. He pried open the door with the help of other drivers.
