Larkin to be inducted into hall of fame
Former VCU standout goalkeeper Jim Larkin will be inducted into the Athletics Hall of Fame during halftime of the men’s basketball game on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. Larkin, who plays for the California Cougars of the Major Indoor Soccer League, was a three-time all-CAA selection.
Women’s soccer has high RPI
VCU finished 28th of 308 schools in Rating Percentage Index. The Rams were first in the CAA and second in the commonwealth following the University of Virginia.
Women’s tennis to host tourney
Virginia Commonwealth University’s women’s tennis team will host the 4-1 Invitational at Thalhimer Tennis Center beginning Friday.
Teams participating include East Carolina, Campbell, George Mason, Georgetown, Drexel, Longwood, Winthrop and Norfolk State.
The team features national-ranked doubles team Marianna Yuferova (St. Petersburg, Russia) and Olga Borisova (Minsk, Belarus).
Rams scheduled matches:
vs. East Carolina 10 a.m. Friday
vs. George Mason 4 p.m. Friday
vs. Winthrop Noon Saturday
vs. Drexel 4 p.m. Saturday
vs. Longwood Noon Sunday
vs. Georgetown 6 p.m. Sunday
VCU prevailed 5-0 in all six matches during the men’s portion of the tournament held last weekend.
