The Virginia Commonwealth University athletics department is trying to reach out to fans by rewarding them for showing up to men’s basketball games.

The 6th-Man Rewards Program is designed to boost attendance and give fans an opportunity to earn Rams athletic gear.

“We want to build attendance, but also build a relationship with fans,” said Lindsay Thomas, director of student promotions and women’s athletic marketing. “We want to say thank you to the loyal fans we have.”

By attending:
3 games: Your roster spot is activated and you will receive an official 6th Man T-shirt.
8 games: You have earned the choice of a VCU sports sling bag or a pair of Champion VCU Basketball game jersey.
12 games: You have earned a specialty designed 6th Man embroidered sweatshirt.
14 games: You have earned an official VCU basketball game jersey.

When students come to games, their VCU card is swiped and a record kept of their attendance.

Plus, every time you attend a game, your name will be put into a grand-prize drawing to win a Sony entertainment system.

“The more you come, the more chances you will have to win,” Thomas said.

The promotion begins Nov. 10 when VCU takes on Virginia Union and runs through the end of the regular season.
