Women’s soccer rewarded with all-CAA honors

Senior co-captains Sandra Anger (Cuguen, France) and defender Jennifer Woodie (Woodbridge/Woodbridge High School) were named to the all-conference first team in voting by league head coaches.

Sophomore Hayley Moorwood (Auckland, New Zealand) and freshman forward Stephanie Power (Dartmouth, Nova Scotia) were named to the second team.

Power and midfielder Megan Flanagan (Franktown, Colo.) received all-rookie team honors.

Cadwallader earns second-team distinction

Field hockey co-captain Ashley Cadwallader (Fairfax/Fairfax High School) was named to the all-CAA first team as voted by league head coaches.

VCU Department of Athletics a finalist for PRISM award

Opening the 2005-06 academic year, VCU’s Department of Athletics launched a national branding campaign that has led the school to being chosen as one of three finalists for the PRISM AWARDS at the Division I AA/AAA level. The award program, established by the University of Massachusetts’ sports management program, recognizes sport organizations that demonstrate industry-leading excellence and originality in sport management.

Volleyball team among tops in region

The Rams were picked in the 15th spot in the AVCU Division I Regional poll last week, their first since joining the CAA.

The team went 1-1 over the weekend, falling to James Madison (30-27, 27-30, 30-23, 30-22) and sweeping George Mason (30-17, 30-18, 30-19).
