Animal Liberation Display
Editor:
PETA’s message is a message of compassion (“Students, Staff Discuss Recent Exhibit,” 10/3/05). How many times in our nation’s history has the abuse of a powerless group been justified by the powerless group’s main “difference”? Africans were not white or Christian, so therefore they were enslaved. Women were not men so they were treated as property. Animals do not look like us and cannot speak, so therefore they are experimented on, caged, slaughtered, turned into coats or eaten. Animals have feelings and the desire to live just like we do. PETA’s Animal Liberation Project clearly illustrates that “might does not make right.”
Sincerely,
Kristy King
